Halloween Inspiration

So, it's that time again... Halloween time. I can easily say that halloween is one of my favourite holidays, just because I love dressing up. It's fun coming up with different ideas on what to wear and how to do your makeup, and honestly I think halloween isn't just for little kids, it's a day where everyone should dress up and just enjoy themselves, you know?
Okay, so most years I tend to make my own costume, firstly because I think it's more fun, and secondly because it's original and there's no way yiu'll show up to a party with the same costume as someone else. I'm still not sure on what to do this year though... so here's a few of my initial costume/makeup ideas:

1. Wednesday Addams

I was planning on going as her last year.. I got the idea from Jenn of Clothes Encounters (who is great btw, so check her out) but I never got around to it. It would be quite easy to make - find an old plain dress, pair it with a white shirt and black brogues, braid hair and pile on the pale powder (expressionless face - optional)

2.  Twiggy

Because she's a legend. And also because it would be quite easy to put together. All you would need is a Sixties shift dress, some fake lashes and you're good to go.

3.  Billy the Puppet (Saw)

I've been a fan of the Saw franchise ever since the first movie so dressing up as the creepy puppet killer thing (that apprently has a name, Billy the Puppet, according to Wikipedia)  would be so much fun. The costume wouldn't be as hard to put together as you might think - you could probably find an old suit lying around your house if you looked hard enough. All you would need to buy is a red bow tie.. unless you have one, then you're good.

4. Killer Clown

The makeup of this looks amazing - it'sscary but not too over the top... okay, maybe a little over the top, but it's Halloween, it's what people do right?! For the outfit you could cut up an old pair of baggy trousers or splatter red paint (to look like blood) over a colourful dress.. the costume could really go any way you want it to

5. Flapper Girl

A little cliched - yes. But The Great Gatsby was my favourite book to study at AS English and dressing up as a flapper has always been a fantasy of mine. It just looks so glamorous and beautiful. As for the actual costume I think it would be the most expensive to put together as you would need a pretty decent, good quality dress to pull the look off. The hair and makeup is quite simple which is refreshing for Hallowen since people normally tend to go completely overboard with the facepaint and/or fake body parts.

So that's it, five outfits to hopefully get you inspired for dressing up this season. It's last minute, I know, with only a week left to Halloween, but with the right inspiration (and tools) you could put one of these looks together in a night! Happy dressing up!

Shit Bloggers Wear

tshirt - eBay, parka - New Look, jeans and sandals - Asos, satchel - River Island, chain - H&M

So I wore this outfit the other day and it reminded me of an ad Topshop had on their website a while back called 'Shit Bloggers Wear'. It was a collaboration they had done with illustrator Cecilia of http://shitbloggerswear.tumblr.com/ and it was basically a collaboration of predicted pieces bloggers would buy from Topshop's A/W13 collection. I found the illustrator's blog even more interesting as I mused over all of her beautiful illustrations which, put together, are reminiscent of a typical blogger's closet. (so check her out)
Anyway, I thought this outfit sort of embodies a typical street style blogger - the Celine tshirt, the boyfriend jeans, jelly sandals, parka and satchel.. all seem too familiar. Having said that, I am currently obsessed with this sort of laid back 'jeans and tshirt' look as it's just too comfortable. However, to the naked eye it looks as is a blogger's closet has exploded all over me.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend, here are a couple of outfits I recently wore. The first one I wore to a birthday party and the pineapple jumper went down well because people kept asking me where I bought it, which was great (it's one of my favourite jumpers right now). The bottom outfit is nothing special, just something I wore going shopping. The motive there was clearly comfort, something the boyfriend jeans achieve without compromising style (I haven't been able to take these babies off ever since I got them!)

Hello everyone! Sorry for my lack of posting lately, I haven't been feeling my best but I'm happy to say I'm back on track and have some great posts lined up for you in the next few days!

Okay, so I'm currently obsessed with Miley Cyrus (it seems as if everyone is at the moment). However, I am less interested in the never-ending controversy surrounding her and more interested in the great looks she's been spotted in lately. The clothes she wears (when she is dressed that is) really are amazing and her style is insane, she is turning into a serious style icon. I am in love with her street style in particular, everything from her denim cut offs to her cool crop tops and those signature Doc Martens... and don't even get me started on her punky peroxide cut! If I could pull of a blonde crop like her I would happily have my hair cut à la Miley any day!

Anyway, here is a round up of some of my favourite Miley looks.

Nailed It...!

I always thought my first ever haul would be of the entire contents of a Topshop or H&M sale (as I'm a huge fan of both stores especially when there is a good bargain to be grabbed) but I guess I was mistaken!
You see, I'm one of those people that would walk into a chemist needing everyday essentials such as shampoo or mascara and instead I would walk out with... well in this case, four nail polishes (the 5th is from eBay.. of course) So for all of you nail polish addicts out there, here it is.. my first (of many, I predict) nail polish hauls.

Metallic nails are a huge trend for A/W 2013, so when I saw these two colours I knew I had to get them. Normally, I would stay away from 'Miss Sporty' but when my friend clued me in about the amazing quality of their nail polishes I was intrigued... oh and the fact that they were 3 for 2 in Superdrug night have helped as well!

1. Miss Sporty - Metal Flip in 'Crazy Plum'
I love this colour as it looks different under different lighting - in natural light it is a bright purple, in sunlight it is a bright green and in artificial light it looks almost like a murky brown with hints of purple. The finish  is also really shiny and coverage is great!

2. Miss Sporty - Metal Flip in 'Beetle Wings'
This one seems to me like a more toned down version of the previous colour as it also has a chameleon look to it but is much lighter. In natural light it goes from a light lime green to and orangey brown colour - perfect for brightening up a dull winter outfit. Love Love Love!

3. 'Perfect Holographic Nail Polish'
I actually got this one off eBay a few days ago so I thought I'd include it in the haul. Holographic Nails have been on trend for about a year now and this season I've noticed that the trend has evolved into accessories (which I'm absolutely obsessed with by the way!). Shoes, clutches, backpacks, sunglasses - you name it, holographic is everywhere so I thought I'd get myself a pretty little nail polish to feed my holographic obsession. I'd had my eye set on the Urban Outfitters' version, 'Silver Holo', ever since it came out in Christmas but as it sold out within like seconds (not even joking) I then found it on the US site here (bit pricey with shipping though) so I bought the cheapest one I could find on eBay. Coverage isn't perfect but it does the job.. with about 3 coats of the stuff. Unfortunately, the seller has removed the listing so I can't link it to you guys but as soon as he puts it back up I'll post it in the comments of this post  (it's a good little bargain) so keep checking!























4. Maybelline - Colour Show Vintage Leather in 'Mud Slide Tote'
Along with the Miss Sporty polishes, I decided to splurge on this colour and I must say, I am absolutely IN LOVE with it! Everything about it is perfect.. from the murky grey to the matte finish, and it only takes seconds to dry! Oh and you only need 1 coat.. Perfect. (It comes in another 3 colours which I'll probably be snapping up soon)

This is what it looks like immediately after application, but not to worry because within seconds it dries into this beautiful matte finish: 

I have always loved the contrast glossy/matte take on the beloved French Manicure, so why not pair this colour with a glossy black?!

5. NUDE NAILS: Miss Sporty in 'Brown this Way'

Lastly, out of the 3 for 2 offer on Miss Sporty, I got this lovely nude colour. Nude is another biggie this fall and I needed a muted colour for school (so that I don't get bullied by the teachers... how does nail polish have any affect on my education, I don't understand?!) anyway, it goes with pretty much any outfit and for me it's a definite must-have colour this season.

The Boyfriend Jeans

Firstly, I would like to say a big hello to all my new lovely followers! Thanks for following me guys, it really means a lot to know someone actually reads and is interested in the things I post and have to say. :):)

Anyway, moving swiftly on with the post... The Boyfriend Jeans. Having had a massive comeback at spring/summer this year it looks as if they're here to stay so I thought I'd grab myself a pair, like this awesome pair I got over at Asos! 
To be honest I have always had a love/hate relationship with boyfriend jeans.. it all dates back to the time of my pre-teens when I really couldn't dress myself so mum bought me (ugly) pairs of the so-called things and it was all I ever wore without dispute. And now, looking back, they didn't do me any favours at all (when you take into consideration the fact that I weighed what I weigh now only I was like nine). What I'm trying to say is I don't consider them to be the most figure-flattering of pieces thus I have religiously stuck to the classic skinny jeans for the past six years. However, with their updated comeback this season, I have not been able to take these bad boys off ever since I bought them. Styled correctly, they look cool and effortless and I can safely say that my love for the boyfriend jeans has been rekindled... well for now at least.

Oh, just a little note on the jean's size if you decide to get them (which you totally should): I range in anything from a 8 to a 10 in jeans depending on their style so if I'm buying for skinny jeans I'd go for an 8 for a tighter fit. I wasn't sure exactly which size would fit right for these though so I ordered both an 8 and a 10 and the 8 was quite tight fit so I stuck with the 10  (don't you just loooove Asos' free returns?!) as I wanted a looser fit and so that I could wear them high waisted with a belt. So, if you're anything like me I would recommend getting both sizes and seeing which fit you prefer as some like to wear this type of jeans tight, whereas I prefer the 'boyfriend' fit!
