The Boyfriend Jeans

Firstly, I would like to say a big hello to all my new lovely followers! Thanks for following me guys, it really means a lot to know someone actually reads and is interested in the things I post and have to say. :):)

Anyway, moving swiftly on with the post... The Boyfriend Jeans. Having had a massive comeback at spring/summer this year it looks as if they're here to stay so I thought I'd grab myself a pair, like this awesome pair I got over at Asos! 
To be honest I have always had a love/hate relationship with boyfriend jeans.. it all dates back to the time of my pre-teens when I really couldn't dress myself so mum bought me (ugly) pairs of the so-called things and it was all I ever wore without dispute. And now, looking back, they didn't do me any favours at all (when you take into consideration the fact that I weighed what I weigh now only I was like nine). What I'm trying to say is I don't consider them to be the most figure-flattering of pieces thus I have religiously stuck to the classic skinny jeans for the past six years. However, with their updated comeback this season, I have not been able to take these bad boys off ever since I bought them. Styled correctly, they look cool and effortless and I can safely say that my love for the boyfriend jeans has been rekindled... well for now at least.

Oh, just a little note on the jean's size if you decide to get them (which you totally should): I range in anything from a 8 to a 10 in jeans depending on their style so if I'm buying for skinny jeans I'd go for an 8 for a tighter fit. I wasn't sure exactly which size would fit right for these though so I ordered both an 8 and a 10 and the 8 was quite tight fit so I stuck with the 10  (don't you just loooove Asos' free returns?!) as I wanted a looser fit and so that I could wear them high waisted with a belt. So, if you're anything like me I would recommend getting both sizes and seeing which fit you prefer as some like to wear this type of jeans tight, whereas I prefer the 'boyfriend' fit!

Transitioning

When it comes to dressing between seasons I find that throwing on an oversized jumper works over pretty much anything (skirts, shorts, dungarees, dresses etc etc). Here, I'm wearing the infamous skort (which I barely took off during the hot days of summer ) and now that it's becoming cooler, pairing it with this cropped neon sweater seemed appropriate. I love how summery the colour of the jumper is yet it is the wintriest piece of clothing I own right now. Also, I'm in love with these sandals and the fact that they remind me of Jeffrey Campbell gladiators (that I wish I could afford) and just how they're so chunky and fun to stomp around in (oh and comfortable, did I mention comfortable??)

Last Days of Summer

Ok so I realised that I haven't posted in like 2 weeks which isn't great but I guess my main excuses range from starting school to having an extremely shitty laptop that hardly ever connects to the wifi in the house. Anyhow, as summer is sadly reaching its inevitable end I thought it'd be nice to share an outfit which bids farewell to this season's whites, florals and neon accents.

Cropped Sweater Day

I took a friend around a few museums today and as a lot of walking was involved i thought it'd be a great excuse for me to wear in these high tops i purchased in the River Island sale a while back. Of course, we did a bit of shopping after and as i (sadly) lost one of the midi rings i got at the markets in London, i went and bought new ones in (you've guessed it) River Island.

I am becoming increasingly aware that the quality of the photos taken with my phone isn't just as good as i had thought it would be so i think i'm going to have to utilise my digital camera for future posts and stay away from the comfort of the iPhone... unfortunately.

DIY Pastel Tips (without dye)

Having had ombre hair for the past year, I've got quite bored of it lately yet I still can't bare to dye back to my natural boring-brunette or chop it off all together so I searched for some alternatives. I though I might bleach it even more so that I could dye the tips a pretty pastel colour but I didn't want anything permanent as I can't keep it for school. Finally, I came across these chalks in Topshop that do exactly what they say on the box (I think): colour your hair until you wash it. 'Perfect!' I thought. I searched for different shades online but it turned out Topshop only did those two and they didn't even have the turquoise (which I was after) in the shop.

Turns out many variations are sold on eBay and in all sorts of colours too! But being the frugal type that I am, I didn't want to splash out on a huge palette as I was only after one colour and I needed it quick as I was going to a festival in a few days time (most suppliers are from China and postage would have taken weeks!) Then it hit me: I didn't need to buy pastels at all, I could just use the ones I use for my art (basic chalk pastels) and it would be free! So I experimented with a few shades I liked and here are the end results:

Tip: - If, like me, your tips aren't light enough, you can put a base of white chalk first before you add a colour.

- Works best on blonde/light brown hair

- Perfect festival look (hence the flower crown)

Festival Lookbook

Results Day...

Thought I'd be a little humorous with this top I got from Topshop a few days ago by (ironically) wearing it on the day of my A Level results. You gotta have a positive attitude, am I right?!

When in London

Wow. I don't know what other way to describe this city, really. After having stayed there for almost 2 weeks I am completely certain that I want to study there and possibly spend the rest of my life there. There's just so much to write about that I don't know where to begin. To cover some basics: I stayed with my cousin who studies there, I was there for a total of 11 days and the main motive of my trip was to do a portfolio course at London Art Portfolio which is situated just off Tower Bridge. There, I met some truly amazing and inspiring people and the time in between classes was spent going round some of the bigger art galleries (such as Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Royal Academy of Arts, National Gallery, Somerset House etc), eating beautiful food and shopping of course! With London being such a huge city with a vast mixture of ethnicities, culture and style, I really got a chance to experiment with clothes as I wasn't as worried getting the strange stares that I would normally get if I was back home. Here is a round up of some of my OOTDs :

 There is so much to do in London throughout the year, but I think if anyone was to ever visit, summer is the best time as the weather is perfect for seeing some of the main attractions. Since I had already seen some of the biggies (such as the London Eye, Westminster Abbey and Madame Tussauds) this time I decided to pay Greenwich and the Tower of London a visit.

A few days were obviously dedicated to shopping, something London is probably best known for. Brick Lane was absolutely insane and I would definitely recommend it for vintage and thrift lovers and even those who love a good bargain (such as myself) here are a few of my favourite Brick Lane buys:

(I am a total sucker for nick nacks so I was practically in heaven when i saw the amount of jewellery stands) all of the above were bought at the markets apart form the beetle earrings which are Zara and the flower earrings which are Pilgrim.

This cute little vintage dress was only £7.50!!

If you ever decide to pay Brick Lane a visit, the best day to go is Sunday as it is the only day when all of the markets are open, although you can go during the week if you want to go round the vintage shops (which are slightly more expensive than the markets) 

The dress and jewellery were all bought at the Sunday UpMarket in the Old Truman Brewery, including these amazing treats at one of the stands (left: strawberry cheesecake whoopie pie, right: vanilla raspberry cupcake) and I can honestly say that they were the most delicious cakes I have ever tasted.. like ever.. better than the Hummingbird Bakery I swear!

ART JAM @ Rich Mix Centre (Shoreditch)

One night we went to this thing called an 'art jam' where basically some artists were gathered to do a live painting session where each artist got 45 minutes to do an improvised painting and after the time was up the artists had to switch canvases and continue painting someone else's piece. This went on for a few rounds and the final outcomes were so cool! These were a few of my favourites.

There were a lot of talanted musicians at the art jam but this girl really stood out, her name was Vanessa Casperscz and she was a singer/beat-boxer/ukulele player.. talk about talent! So make sure you check her out! 

Wow this has turned into a long post but you have reached the end of it! Might do a part 2 of London sometime depending on my mood, as there is still a lot of cool stuff to share!

Titles;

3 weeks. That's how long it took me to come up with a decent URL that isn't already taken. Ridiculous i know. The fact that the name centres around the theme of fashion didnt help considering the endless amount that exist these days... And yet, ironically, here I am adding another one to the  infinite world of fashion blogging. Therefore my intentions in this blog are not only to post about fashion trends and personal style but to also share with you my creative journey in the hope that it might motivate and inspire you :)

And thus it begins; the very first post. Eeeek! 

Like first meetings, I believe first posts are just as awkward and embarrassing. I mean, I can imagine how much I'll be cringing reading this a year from now (that is, if the blog survives that long, which I truly hope it does) Like what is even the protocol here? Should I introduce myself and give you a list of my hobbies and interests blah blah etc... I suppose it would be a fine start but then where's the mystery, eh? Ok let's jump straight in: it's 3.30 am and instead of sleeping (as I have to catch a plane tomorrow) I decided to start the blog. I guess it's a mixture of excitement and adrenaline that's keeping me awake.. Or maybe it's the coffee I had at seven. Either way I'm glad I finally decided to start it because I've wanted to for so long but was never really inspired to. What annoys me the most is when I see something new and exciting and want to share it with you I realise 'crap! You can't post anything yet cus you haven't actually started the blog!' Well here is me starting it so that I can have some more of these monologues in the hope that someone likes or is even half interested in them. And we come to the near end of the post. No photos yet but they will come soon hopefully. I keep saying hopefully I don't know why. Anyway I want to end just by saying that I think I am a terrible writer and this is probably the most you will ever read on here as I really want it to be like an electronic mood board so to speak filled with ideas and inspiration.
